Weekly Rundown

Monday-

Shortridge Science Fair. Good experience, no moldy bread. None were great. There were some good ideas but they hadn't seemed to fully grasp the idea of an experiment. And they had NO CLUE what replication was.

Followed up my judging experience with a panel on green jobs. A lot of economics and a lot of singing to the choir. Side note- My student-organized panel discussion last fall was WAY better.

Tuesday-

Not much. Business as usual.

Wednesday-

Lecture of the 4th dimension. I spent the 1.5 hours making fun of his bad physics jokes.

Thursday-

Had dinner with a bunch of other students and some of Butler's Board of Trustee's members. Those people sure can talk circles. I at least got to tell Bo Fo (Bobby Fong, BU President) that he was wrong. The Earth Charter Campus Farm is not simply the "new campus farm from the Center for Urban Ecology" it's a student led thing. Gosh, get it right man!

Friday-

Shoveled compost

Saturday-

Shoveled shit AND THEN!!

GOT INTO GRAD SCHOOL!! WOOP! WOOP!

Can I wear this hair outside?

Two topics today. First up- Tomorrow I'm heading to Shortridge middle school (magnet middle school, formerly THE public, college prep-level, high school in Indy... Kurt Vonnegut went there) to judge their science fair. Butler has had a connection with this school since it reopened a few years ago. As part of this they're sending a bunch of profs (and me!) to judge their science fair. I told my professor I was going to be skipping his classes (I have him twice MWF). He said it was ok because me missing his classes for this meant that he didn't have to go. Ok, it was funnier in person.

Topic two- For Christmas I bought myself to rings I'd been keeping my eyes on. Both came from Etsy. They were the first purchases I'd ever made from the site. One transaction was brilliant! The other... Let's put it this way. I felt woman was rude. Neutral feedback. More rude. What I hoped was constructive criticism. Cue MAJOR RUDE ("people like you"). I'm not sure the last time someone was this blatantly rude to me... Anyways. I'm a little put off.

Love Actually

"I should have told everyday, because she was perfect everyday."

What is your favorite Love Actually quote?

Eagerly Awaiting

EASTER IS ALMOST HERE. Ok, I don't actually care about Easter. So, let's be excited about this... Come Monday, February 15th Valentine's will be over and that means EASTER CANDY!!!!! In case you didn't know, I LOVE jelly beans. Thus, I am eagerly awaiting the Easter season and all it means for us sinners who simply delight in the joys of capitalism.

THAT girl

Yet more proof I need to get out more. Cat Friday has arrived in Julie's world. (Isn't that what people with pets do? Post their pictures on Friday??)

I'd been doing so well.

Durn it. I had been doing so well! Oh well. I've got a few new life lessons-

1- I can make refried beans. Ok, not from scratch and technically not refried but they are still very tasty.

2- Contrary to common white-person thought... Fish tacos are good.

New Life Goals-

1- Learn to make Mexican Rice from scratch cause that shit is also tasty.

2- Make a decent Margarita at home.

Also appropriate in this post... Comfort food transcends culture. My current comfort food favorite... Mac and Cheese (duh!), Mashed potatoes and gravy, Carnita's (mexican pork, with rice and beans of course), and Yats.
