A Snapshot of Time

Written words, a photo, both capture a moment that could only happen once

People's Stories.

Guess who got an A- in German? That's right. Julie did. But that isn't the point of my post.

I was in my German Prof's office for my speaking final. On my way out we were just talking and I asked if the man in the picture on the wall was him. It was. What was he doing? Standing on a ladder taking a hammer to the Berlin Wall. He was doing a high school study abroad in Germany in 1989 and drove to Berlin to take part. Moral- Everyone's got their story and they're often much cooler than you expect.

Last Day of Classes 2009

Good news from the HSI website. Looks like Tiger has been adopted! (and not by me).

It's the last day of classes here at Butler. One more class, revision of one paper, the writing of another, an oral exam, and one final. Geesh. In my head it isn't that much...

Indianapolis is super windy today much to the dismay of my German prof who has some kind of May Day celebration going on. I always here May Day and don't think of Maypoles. I think of being ding dong ditched which results in candy at my front door. I've been hanging out for more than hour now in the basement of Gallahue were it is surprisingly sunny and windy enough to make me cold.

I should probably head to the CUE@B for the last lunch of the semester. Class at one and down to the Government Building North for some sorting of messages to DNR. Gym Class Heros is on campus tonight but I think I'll pass to work on my paper.

Oh. Time.com

"Whether to alter your genitals for aesthetic reasons is a question meant for your mid-20s at Burning man." Thank you Joel Stein for making me laugh.

Tiger aka Ear Cat

I still want a cat. Not any cat. Just Tiger aka Ear Cat. I'll keep him in my room downstairs this summer and then he can move back to school with me...

It's beginning to look a lot like Spring

So apparently I've become a one a week kind of blogger.

I went camping this weekend. A girl I've gotten to know through Earth Charter, Kaitlin (1st secretary of Earth Charter Butler) asked if I wanted to go camping. Originally she was going to get other students to come but it ended up being Kaitlin, Krista and I. We headed down to Brown County State Park Saturday around 1pm and had a lot of fun.

On Saturday we climbed the fire tower. I swear I had flashbacks of my early childhood and was reminded that I don't like heights. Krista made a fair amount of fun at my expense which was understandable seeing as climbing the tower was my idea. I will give myself that while I don't really like heights I can more often than not overcome this aversion and accomplish what it is I set out to do (climb the fire tower, swing off the high ropes course, look over the edge of the Eiffel Tower, and hopefully someday Skydive). Then we ate dinner (veggy packets b/c Kaitlin is a vegetarian, yes mom. I ate an entire meal of veg) Actually the entire meal wasn't veg. We had banana boats for desert. We went with those because Krista, the camping virgin, had never had one.

Sunday we walked about half of trail 9 to trail 7 and finished up with trail 4. Total I think it was about 2 miles of rugged trail, another 1.5 of moderate and maybe 2 more on the park roads. Then we headed back to Indy so we could pretend we did homework this weekend!

Two weeks of class left followed by a week of finals. By my understanding I've only got 1 organized final. German is an oral exam with the professor during the week of finals, Anthro has a final paper instead of a final (wish me luck! I think I've forgotten how to write papers), EC doesn't have a final b/c it's an honors class, stupid class is only 1 credit hour so it can't have a final and that leave only plant development for a final exam! That's a first.

Hope you enjoyed my novel!

Random thoughts.

It's been more than a week, however I'm still not the worst blogger I know. I would have posted some Youtube videos but switching my account to my google login messed up my link with my Youtube account and I can not longer figure out how to post videos directly to blogspot.

Random thoughts for the day

- If Myspace were a country it'd be the 5th largest in the world
- A Cap and Trade draft is in subcommitee in Washington
- "That's what home means, Turtle. Even if they get mad, they always have to take you back."
- I've been suckered into go to church on Good Friday.
- I will go to avoid the extra homework I would have been assigned had I chosen not to go.
- What do you wear to church on Good Friday?
- Yes or No? You do not take communion if you haven't been baptisted. Or does it depend
on the demonination?
-Camping this weekend at Brown county. Just going for one evening but it should be fun. And hopefully not too cold.
- Earth Charter Butler goes before SGA tomorrow to officially become an on campus organization.
- I was so tired and stressed out today that I'm almost hoping it doesn't pass. Not because I don't think it's a good thing but because I'm not sure I really am the right person to sit in the Presidents chair.
- Green roofs are cool.
- A weeks worth of the New York Times holds more information than most people in the 18th century would have access to in their entire lifetime
- I need to get back to writing about sex determination in ferns so that I can go to bed soon.
