A Snapshot of Time

Written words, a photo, both capture a moment that could only happen once

End of April

We're getting our new liner tomorrow (for our pool). It would be exciting if that also meant I could spend Sunday laying in it. Too bad it's still WAY to cold. Well, not as cold as Windermere was but I ain't doin' that again.

My leg is recovering. Dr. was concerned, but more in a motherly kind of way (you know "oh, you poor thing") and said the bruising would get worse before it got better. Just call me smurf foot.

Butler!!

Mmm... Cheesecake. Always a good life choice. I got Key Lime Pie Cheesecake... very good but should have stuck with the Tuxedo, it's got chocolate in it.

Very glad to be back at Butler, even if just for a little while. I probably am only enjoying it this much because I (unlike everyone else) don't have finals to worry about next week.

Wish me luck spending tomorrow night in heels... it could be an adventure with my football injury.

Back

Made it back. I'd say in one piece but I have a leg and ankle that took a nasty kick on the soccer field Saturday and are looking quite nice...

Had a REALLY long flight. For a girl who got up at 9:30am Saturday morning (england time) and didn't go to bed until 11pm Sunday night (Indiana time) I don't think I did too bad.

This is Bryana and I jumping into Windermere, the lake right outside our hostel. Let's just say it was breath taking... I could add that I shivered for an hour, even after my warm (but not too warm) shower.

Lake District 3

First, it took me forever to find these pictures so you should enjoy them. Two, this whole not having internet thing has been amazing. I actually have been on a bit but I had to register for classes. Yes! Three labs and a math class about gambling, yeah for being bad at math!

Heading home in a few days. Summer break officially starts Friday after class, then Saturday about half of us just aren't going to sleep because we leave our hostel at 4:30am. However, 8 hours is a really long flight. I've got a day to chill... I want to go buy my Roos, I've been drooling for so long it's just time to break down... then I start work at Paradise. I'm heading to Butler to visit Krista on Friday and then back on Sunday to go to Prom, yes, prom.

We're taking an artish class (all the hostel workers, the older ones at least, refer to us as the artists) and one of our assignments are "haiku photos" also known as macro. This one turned out quite nicely, the prof said he would have like more background but I like it. And I just realized it's sideways, not that you can really tell.
This is from the little park near our hostel. I set the camera on the bench and did a 15 second exposure. And of course, the sheep.

Lake District 2

Almost home!

We've been doing a lot of hiking, as was to be expected. Other than that, we hang out and do some other things. A few of us went on an adventure the other day, and then today we went canoing... which btw I forgot how much I hated doing with people who don't really canoe.

I'm already starting to pack my bag in my head.

Lake District

Made it to the Ambleside village in the Lake District for a class on how we see things and changing that view.

Nothing exciting to report, we've done a few small hikes but nothing major. I've got a butt load of pictures but it's part of the class.

I'm in a bar near our hostel using the internet. I was hoping not to be on, but I need to figure out my classes for next semester. Any ideas? That is I'll be figuring out my classes if my adviser would ever email me back.

Leaving London

Tomorrow morning we get on a bus and head to the Lake District; I'm not ready to leave London. Bry, Natasha and I went to Camden Markets this afternoon... can't believe I didn't go before. But then again, you always find the best things on the last day. I almost bought a really cute ring... I'm going to kick myself for not getting it. In the long run its probably a really good thing I didn't find it before hand.

Here is me with the Giant Squid at the backstage tour of the Natural History Museum.

Winding Down London...

Genetics and Evolution final tomorrow! Then on Saturday we head to the Lakes District for some artsy stuff and some hiking.

Yesterday! I saw a GIANT SQUID!!!! I thought it was super cool...

Today Bry and I went shopping at the SUPER cheap Primark, and then off picked up some sketch books for our next class. We then hit the Absolut Icebar here in London to finish our day. We walked for a total of more than four hours... and about a third of the city.

I tried to buy pickles the yesterday, that was a disaster. ALL the pickles are sweet or bread and butter. It was very sad, I even bought the spears that said dill.
