Running With Sissors

So Augusten Burroughs spoke at Butler this evening. I went, though I had never heard of him before. I will admit this. A few quotes from the evening...

-It started young, very young, like in the single digits."
-If you're doing all that you're probably not doing crack and getting blow jobs at 13.
-The right answer weighs more.
-You run the show called You.

Paper Snowflakes

Julie and pop culture

1- I'm reading Krista's favorite book right now. It's taking me a while to get through Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand but I expected it to.

2- K- What the hell is that?!?!
J- It's a book for class.
K- No. That, what is that?
J- It's a book for class. It's not about what you think its about.
K- It's not about Star Trek?
J- No. It's about the physics behind Star Trek and other movies.
"Beyond Star Trek" author forgotten. The first chapter was all about Independence Day

3- I went to see Extraordinary Measures today. I cried more in the 2 hour movie than I probably did in the past year total. Ok, a slight exaggeration but it was slightly ridiculous. In the same way Patch Adams is slightly ridiculous.

4- Went to one of the local music clubs for a show Friday. I've never seen so many hipsters in one place before. Boy, some of them were cute! But, some of them needed to shower.

5- Friday I was also introduced to the best breakfast food in Indy. Peppy's Grill in Fountain Square, you and I will be friends.

Check me out!

I took some (rather crappy) pictures (via my cell phone) of my Christmas break project. It's a super small lap afghan made of Lions Brand Vanna's Choice 100% Acrylic. Really simple double crochet, nothing fancy. The colors are much nicer in person.

\

I've started a bigger one in the same colors but I don't expect to churn it out real quick, there's that whole school thing. In schools news, my SPEA application is in and now it's just a waiting process.

Handsome Fellow

Built for Sin

There's a train leaving town, If you hurry up I think you just might make it
Dammit I hope you make it
Conscience is a faint, unpleasant sound, You've worried enough, but here's your chance so take it
Dammit I hope you take it
A heart attack is sleeping in your chest, waiting until the timing's best
So make a move, while you're still breathing

Say so long to innocence
From underneath the evidence
You taste like Heaven, but God knows you're built for sin

There's a lie, for every truth, If you take these pills, I think you just might make it
Dammit I hope you make it
When you were mine, was I for you, Just one cheap thrill just to help you make it
Dammit I hope you didn't fake it
Hypocrisy has really aged you well

The white on your nose is your secret to tell
So you should speak, while they're still listening

Say so long to innocence
From underneath the evidence
You taste like Heaven, but God knows your built for sin

You can scream out loud
But your pain falls on deaf ears
This is where you've brought yourself
And this is what you've always feared
There's a faceless crowd, with no sympathy
So you can scream out loud
But there's no one listening

Say so long to innocence
From underneath the evidence
You taste like Heaven, but God knows your built for sin

Finishing Begins.

One more day (ok more like 36 hours but still) until my final semester begins. I'm nervous (well, duh) but also ?excited? That's what I'm going with at least.

Some friends and I went out Friday night (celebrating Krista's birthday, the count has begun to tally how many times she forgets that I am not yet 23). We went to the dueling piano bar downtown. We had a blast, except for those few moments in which our friendship was forced to end because she'd never heard (any version) of 'Roxanne' originally by the Police though much covered. But, we set aside her musical misfortunes in favor of a lesson later.

As a result of our trip (and a photoshoot with Mr. Jaxy-boy) I was uploading pics off my camera for the first time in months and found this picture of the one and only Mr. Thomas G. I presume it is from Thanksgiving.

SNOW!

It snowed in Indy today. YAY. I played with the dogs in the snow and then I shoveled our driveway and walks and then I played with the dogs in the snow some more. I'm hoping to go sledding tomorrow but no one has joined me in understanding the fun that is sledding. I was also hoping to go skiing but my buddy appears to have backed out on me... =/

In other news, I finished Dune by Frank Herbert today. I will admit to not "getting" sci-fi. I mean, I can see why Dune and Enders Game are considered good sci-fi but, I just don't get it. Sorry.

1- You've Got Mail. It's classic.
2- I think Collin Firth is the new Tom Hanks because I don't get either of them as leading men.
3- Flagship species= the cute and cuddly's
4- Things are much less festive without the Christmas tree
5- Jax apparently like's men when they sit down.
